III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
Roads:
The access road to the load out is snow covered and drifted over. Drifts were too deep to drive down
road. Loadout was accessed on foot. County Road 12E to the Mine site had been plowed. The mine
access road had not been plowed and was drifted over with large drifts. Access on foot or by snowshoes
was impeded by the large 3 to 5 foot uneven drifts. No recent activity was apparent on the mine site as
noted by the inaccessibility of the site.
Hydrologic balance: . Ponds D, E and F were visible from Jackson County road 12E or 29. All ponds
were snow covered and frozen. None of the observed ponds were discharging. Loadout pond was snow
covered and not discharging.
Revegetation: Taller grass species and sagebrush could be seen protruding through the snow at the
loadout, Pit 1, and the 720 pit area. Snow cover was estimated to be approximately 2 feet deep with
drifts 3 to 5 feet or more depending on the terrain.
4 of 5 WHITE-File YELLOW-Operator PINK-Specialist
