<br />water. The surface water monitoring sites are used to evaluate fluctuations in the quality and quantity of <br />surface water. The locations of the monitoring stations are shown on the Ground Water and Surface Water <br />Hydrology Maps, (Maps 2.04-MS and 2.04-M6). Tables 2.04.7-T2, Ground Water Monitoring Sutrunary <br />and 2.04.7-T5, Surface Water Monitoring Summary, s„mmari>e the type and location of historic monitoring <br />sites. <br />The following summarizes the frequency of ongoing operational monitoring, as approved byDMG: <br />• Springs and Seeps - Dischange measurements and field water quality parameters aze collected twice <br />during the period June through October if sites are accessible. <br />• Stream Stations -Flow and field water quality parameters are measured on a monthly basis from <br />April through October if sites are accessible. Water samples are collected (if flowing) for laboratory <br />analysis once during the 2~d and 3rd quarters. The exception is monitoring for the North Fork <br />stations (NF-land 3), which continues on a year-round basis, including collection of water samples <br />during 4~h quarter. <br />B-2 and B-3 sites are only monitored for flow and field parameters twice during Jtune after tributary <br />flow has ended. <br />• Monitoring Wells -Ground water level measurements, field water quality parameters, and <br />laboratory samples were taken following well installation and development and water levels and <br />field parameters are measured twice during the period June through October if sites are accessible. <br />If ground water is present, a sample is collected for laboratory analysis during the 3~ quarter. <br />B -Seam mine water transfer boreholes (to the Somerset mine workings) are monitored for water <br />level only at the above monitor well frequency Representative samples of transferred water will be <br />analyzed for pH and total suspended solids ('I'SS). Transferred water volume is measured with <br />installed flow meters. These results and total annual volume of transferred water (gallons per <br />calendar year) will be reported in the annual h}drology report (AHI~. <br />The water quality monitoring parametens list is presented in Table 2.04.7-T1, Surface and Ground Water <br />Monitoring Parameters. All water monitoring analysis results will be recorded, reviewed to identify <br />potential problems or trends, and filed at the mine so as to be available for future inspection and review. In <br />addition at the end of each water year, OMLLC will tabulate all water monitoring data for the yti az, review <br />the data with respect to changes in surface and groundwater hydrology systems, and provide a sttmmary <br />Annual Hydrology Report in compliance with the DMG schedule. OMLLC will continue to collect and <br />evaluate hydrologic monitoring data consistem with the Hydrologic Monitoring Plan during the operations <br />and reclamation phases. If the additional data resulting from ongoing hydrologic monitoring indicates that <br />any significant changes in general baseline characterizations are appropriate or that any assumptions or <br />projections used to evaluate potential hydrologic irrnpacts are inaccurate, they will be reviewed with <br />consideration of all available data. If the analysis of any surface water or ground water sample indicates <br />noncompliance with applicable permit conditions, then OMLLC shall promptly notify the DMG and <br />immediately implement accelerated or expanded monitoring to determine the nature and extent of <br />noncompliance and results of noncompliance. <br />OMLLC will continue surface and ground water monitoring activities after completion of reclamation <br />operations to documem restoration of pre-mining hydrologic characteristics. All surface and groundwater <br />monitoring installations and associated structures and equipment will be properly installed, maintained, and <br />operated to assure the accuracy and consistency of monitoring data. Surface water monitoring will be <br />discominued when untreated surface runoff meets applicable effluent limitations and the DMG approves <br />removal of drainage and sediment control structures. Groundwater monitoring wells will be abandoned and <br />removed in accordance with applicable DMG guidelines and permit comrnitments following DMG <br />approval to discontinue groundwater monitoring. <br />MR 76 2 Revised March 2006 <br />
