• 2.05.3
(2) Operation Description -Underground Mining
The proposed surface disturbance associated with the underground mining
activities within the permit area include; 1) haul roads; 2) access roads; 3) a
utility corridor; 4) benches for mine facilities; 5) a gob pile and 6) unit train
loadout. The area has previously been disturbed by the construction of
access roads for property management and mineral exploration and the long
term operation of the old King Mine. To the extent possible, the existing
access road corridors were integrated into the surface disturbance.
The proposed disturbed area is shown on the Mine Facilities Maps Nos. 15-
1, 15-2, 15-3 and 15-4. The Mine Plan Map No. 14 presents the proposed
underground development schedule.
1. Haul Roads
The haul road will enter the property from old State Highway 133. The traffic
on this road will flow one of three directions. The first will be access to the
• mine facilities area which is located about 9,500 feet from the highway. This
road rises about 800 feet from the old State Highway. The second traffic
direction will be to the gob pile. This road will traverse to the east along a rail
road siding bench previously utilized by the old King Mine operation. The
gob pile is located east of the mine entrance below the old King Mine portals.
The third will be coal haul truck traffic which will loop under the truck loadout
and return to the State highway.
2. Access Roads
Access roads are to be constructed from the main haul road to the utility
corridor as shown on the Mine Facilities Maps 15-1 and 15-2. An access
road will also be constructed from the portal bench to the utility bench.
3. Utility Corridor
A utility corridor will be constructed to provide a cleared route for the water
line, power line and downhill conveyor. The proposed surface disturbance
is a steep corridor about 3,000 feet long.
•
PR-06 2.05 - 7 - 8/01
/9 PP~ovED
/ /l5/02
