• 2.05.3
was added to topsoil stockpile E during the expansion of the coverfill pile during
2003.
Pile D Pile E Grand Total
Quantity (CY) 4,500 1,600 161,000
A total of 56,800 cubic yards of topsoil was stripped and stockpiled during the
construction of the unit train loadout. This quantity results in an average 1.1 foot
replacement depth within the disturbed area at the loadout including the
disturbance associated with Ponds J & K. The topsoil is stored in topsoil
stockpile F. Construction of Gob Pile No. 3 will result in approximately 70,000
CY of topsoil that will be stored in Topsoil Stockpile F-1.
The design of the gob pile in 2003 was a 10-year design. At the time of this
writing, in May 2006, the gob pile is nearly full and ready to be reclaimed. To
reclaim the entire gob pile, approximately 1.0 feet of topsoil will be placed on
the completed construction face. In total, the operator salvaged approximately
50,000 CY of topsoil. Material from the stockpile, new borrow area and the
topsoil stockpile will be utilized for reclamation. See Appendix A in Volume IX
for material balance details. Topsoil will be stored in topsoil stockpile E as
shown on Figure I located in Volume IX.
Construction of the drill pad located immediately above the utility bench during
late 2004 will the require that approximately 1,000 cubic yards of topsoil be
salvaged. The topsoil will be stored in topsoil stockpile "G" which is located on
top of the B-Seam portal excess material stockpile.
At the Hubbard Creek Shaft construction site, topsoil will be salvaged. To
preserve space the topsoil will be stockpiled on the cut slope. If the 1.8 acre
disturbance has an average of 6" of topsoil, 1,450 cubic yards of topsoil will be
salvaged. The cut slope will have 2.25 feet of topsoil placed on it for storage if
the full 1,450 cubic yards are salvaged. The proposed construction site is strewn
with large sandstone boulders so topsoil salvage will be difficult.
Topsoil stockpiles were and will be constructed to reduce erosion of the
stockpiles by either wind or water. The topsoil stockpiles are located on stable
surfaces where they will not be disturbed by the mining operation. Topsoil
stockpiles that are to remain in place for more than ninety days will be seeded as
soon as practical and berms will be constructed around the base of stockpiles
• where necessary to prevent loss of topsoil material from the stockpiles.
TR-47
2.05 - 38 - 03/07
HppRovsD
7 jt7~67
