• 2.05.3
7%. The next 200 feet has an average grade of -8% and the final 150 feet
has an average grade of 6%. There are two 50 feet segments and one 200
foot segment of the road where the pitch grade exceeds 20%. The drainage
area above the point where this road crosses Freeman Gulch is less than
one square mile. An 18-inch diameter culvert will be installed where the light
use road crosses Freemen Gulch. This light use road will be reclaimed.
Light use roads will be constructed to access drill pads for Gob Vent
Boreholes. The roads will be constructed in accordance with rule 4.03.3 and
the general guidelines listed above. The layout of the roads are presented
on Map 9 Hydrological Monitoring Location Map.
Light use roads that can easily be traveled with an ATV and may be traveled
with a 4-wheel drive vehicle will be upgraded so a drill rig can traverse the
road. Light use roads that cannot be traveled with a 4-wheel drive vehicle
yet might be traveled with an ATV will be refurbished so a drill rig can
traverse the road. Generally upgraded and refurbished light use roads
cause about 6 and 12-feet of new disturbance per lineal feet of road
respectively. Vegetation will not be cleared for more than the width
necessary to serve traffic an utility needs.
• Alight use road was constructed during May and June 2000 to access Pond
B. The entrance for the road is from 4365 Lane. The road parallels Old
State Highway 133. It is approximately 600 feet long with a uniform grade
of about 1.5 percent.
During late 2003 a light use road was constructed to access the material
storage area located east of the old power plant, south of pond C. The road
is approximately 80 feet long with a uniform grade of about 10%.
During late 2004 a light use road was constructed to access the drill site
located above the utility bench. The road is approximately 280 feet long with
an average grade of about 10% and a pitch grade of 20% for about 130 feet.
New light use roads will be reclaimed. Reclamation of the upgraded and
refurbished light use roads may involve narrowing the roads so they are
compatible with the postmining land use of rangeland and wildlife habitat
since roads are necessary to manage both land uses and a light use road
network was existing on the property prior to mining.
U
M R-47
2.os-27- ttioa
HPPRovc~
l2/03/Oy
