42.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SORFACE OR UNDERGROUND MINING ACT1ViTIES --
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND RECLAMATION PLANS.
2.05.4 Reclamation Plan.
(2) (e) (ii) (Cont'd.)
Reference Area Report in the Vegetation Appen-
dix, Volume 9A. The following seeding mix
will be utilized on areas where a quick sta-
bilizing but temporary cover is desired to
protect the soil resource and prevent ero-
sion.
Temporary Seed Mixture
(PLS/Acre Broadcast)
Western hhieatgrass (Arriba) 15
Indian Ricegrass 10
Pubescent Fihea[grass (Luna) 5
Intermediate (Tegmar) 5
Yellow Sweetclover 5
Total 40
(iii) Seeding and Planting Methods
Prior to seeding or planting and after redis-
tribution of topsoil, the surface soil will be
• disked, harrowed or cultivated perpendicular
to slones (along contours) less than 2h:ly
with a farm tractor. On steeper slopes the
redistributed topsoil which has been exces-
sively compacted will be loosened by chiseling
with a dozer to a depth of 8 inches. Topsoil
which has been redistributed on steep slopes
will presumably be done by a bulldozer pushing
the material either up or down the slope. Ex-
cessive compaction will be minimized and use
of the dozer will assist in creating a firm
seedbed on these slopes because the bulldozer
[racks help catch seeds.
Seeding will be accomplished by hydraulic
broadcast methods popularly known as hydro-
seeding. IJater and seed will be broadcast in
this meChod. in some areas, either hand
broadcasting or a small hand-held broadcast
seeder will be utilized. Where hand broadcast
techniques are used the area will be lightly
raked.
Revised 08/01/84
. Revised 10/01/87
72
