• 2.05 APPLIQ-TIDi~I FCII2 PERNII'P a~oat SQnk'!~ Oat ID ~~ ACTIVITIES -
1~~1 ItF]QiTII~+]QTtB E~ OPF~tATI~i A1~ID RBCGAI+ATI@i PiAI~B.
2.05.4 Reclamntiaa Plan.
(2) (d) (Cont'd.)
The brown sandstone and gray sandstone materials excavated fxYmt the rock
slope portals and entries would be utilized as Dover over less suitable
materials. OOVOC conservatively estimates that at least 30 percent of the
fill surface would be soil size particles and the remairrler would be
ooarc„e fragments less than 24-inches in rliamater. The Division has agreed
to allow QOVOC to pursue revegetation of the fill outslopes without the
addition of imported soils. OWOC would monitor the success of
revegetation and erosion cnnttvl over a 2-year period.
In accordance with Idrle 4.14.6(1), if any rillisg or gullying deeper than
9 inches occurs during the first growing season, the rills and gullies
would be filled, graded, seeded and mulched. If, after the second gracing
season, revegetation and erosion control are not successful, i.e. rills
and gullies 9 inches or deeper have formed and no vegetation has become
established, CX7VOC would add an average of 6 inches of soil Dover to the
fill outslc~pes arri reseed, fertilize, aryl mulch.
• Soils may be obtained fmn a stocl~ile at the Steven's Gulch wellfield,
from excess soils excavated at the West or Fast Ridge Waste Rock Disposal
Areas, or piirrhac~ frran an outside source. Suitability analyses of the
soils utilized would be subtaitted for the Division's approval. The slopes
would be hydromulrhed or would be straw mulched at a rate of 2 tons per
acre and tackified or covered with erosion control netting.
CWCC would increase the reclamation bond to cover the cost of applying
additional soils and revegetating the fill slopes should the 2-year trial
period prove unsuccessful.
Less than half an acre would be distributed by the ventilation shaft and
fan construction located north of the OVLd+I water tank. Only the minimum
area for the constrvction, aryl ooag~liance with MSF1A >~,~ ations, would be
cleared of Vegetation. The site is located on the northern perimeter of
the area previously disturbed by the bn>rstr crushing habitat improvement
treatment and would require little additional clearing. &~sed on the OVWM
soils analyses (Soils Appendix, Volume 9), approximately 32 inches of this
Delson soil world be salvaged from the
Revised 08/02/90
63
•
