dates of last modification. All facilities including ancilliary facilities used at the Eagle No. 5 mine will be used for the
No. 6 mine. Anew Multiple Services building and 100,000 gallon water tank was constructed during 1989. The
location is shown on Maps 25 & 26.
No. 5 Portal Area Main Office
The main offices were originally located near EC Village. Offices have been relocated near the No. 5 portal. The
offices consist of mobile trailers and house the Manager of mines, safety and training personnel, engineering staff, and
other mine personnel. As of October 1999, only one trailer remains, that being the maintenance [railer. Tt is planned
to have the maintenance trailer removed by the end of 1999.
Shop
A new shop was constructed in 1981 to replace the old shop located near the now abandoned EC Village. The shop is
located near the main office building. The shop is used to perform all maintenance activities associated with the
underground mining operation.
Warehouse
The CMLRD approved the construction of the warehouse and storage yard in September 1983. The approval allowed
for the construction of a building 60 feet by 100 feet with a loading dock. The warehouse was constructed north of the
shop on a previously disturbed area. The warehouse is used for distribution of materials and for material storage
(parts and supplies).
Bathhouse
The men's bathhouse is located adjacent to the main office building and is used for showering by mine personnel. The
women's bathhouse was located near the main office building and was used for the same purpose. A visitor's
bathhouse was located adjacent to the women's bathhouse. Both the women and visitor's bathhouse have been
removed from the site. These facilities are located in the general mine office area shown on Map 26.
Laboratory
The laboratory is located behind and north of the mine warehouse. The laboratory is a testing facility used to analyze
coal for quality control. It is operated by an independent testing organization. During temporary cessation the
independent testing organization has relocated to another mine, however the lab facility is utilized by EC personnel to
do limited chemical work and store sampling equipment.
Eneineerine Offices
The engineering offices were located in four adjacent trailers located next to the mine office and bathhouse. The
engineering offices house engineering and drafting personnel for the mine. These buildings have been removed from
the site, and the environmental/engineering office has located in the warehouse.
Permit Revision 04-34 2.05-8 Revised 7/2/04
