4-14 <br /> Bunninger Mine (Sections 1 & 2, T. 8 S., R. 102 W.) some water <br /> was encountered at the working faces in the Carbonera seam by <br /> the USBM inspection in 1925. These mine workings were evidently <br />beneath the Dry Salt Wash. <br />All other mines in the Book Cliffs Coal Field seem to be dry, <br />very probably because most of them have been developed above <br />the local stream beds. <br />4.4.2 Site Hydrogeology <br />The Munger Canyon site is located in an eastern drainage of East <br />Salt Creek. The P4unger Creek is a deeply incised stream of <br />ephemeral character, flowing only in direct response to precipi- <br />tation and snow-melt (See Section 4.5). <br />• The outcrop of the Cameo Seam in Munger Canyon is at an elevation <br />of 5,725 feet, therefore about 125 feet above the point where the <br />Cameo seams dip below the floor of East Salt Creek. <br />The data on ground water presence at the Munger Canyon site were <br />obtained from site observations made on the surface, during under- <br />ground exploration operations and from the results of exploration <br />boreholes (logs included in Appendix G). Most of the exploration <br />boreholes drilled within the permit area were executed with the <br />use of air as a drilling fluid; and most of the boreholes were <br />geophysically logged. The geophysical log consists usually of <br />gamma-gamma, density and resistivity logs. The presence of water <br />and its level, or the absence of ground water, is indicated by <br />electric <br />
