Long
Division Director
The Division has received and reviewed the referenced report,~dated October 31,"2001.The report contains
photographs, narrative, and a mine map, which dogument completion of the required two pedestrian
surveys during 2001, and survey data:rvhich documents the two required surveys of subsidence monuments
during the year: The report fulfills the annualsubsidencereportirrg requirement of thePowderhorn permit.
Mining operations ceased in December, 1999, with no projected future mining. As such, the permit
requirement that. subsidence pedestrian survey be conducted "over the next year's mining projections and
over the past two years of actual mining" and the requirement that survey of Jerry Creek and Coal Creek
subsidence monuments be conducted "..,for two years subsequent to undermining" have been completed.
Therefore, the requirement for subsidence monitoring at Roadside Mine is suspended, unless mining
operations should resume, or unless the Division otherwise determines for good cause, that monitoring
should be resumed.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sitnncerely, f~jj
Dan T.
