2.05.6 Subsidence Survey Monitoring and Control Plan
(a) The Ute Water Conservancy District owns and operates a water treatment and
storage facility and a raw water supply pipeline located within the permit area. The
location and configuration of these structures are shown in Exhibits 29 and 30. A
filter plant and three water storage tanks are located on the surface over both the
active and inactive areas of the Roadside South Mine. A buried pipeline supplies
raw water to the facility from the northwest over the Roadside South Mine
workings. The pipe is a 48-inch diameter welded steel pipe, fabricated cement
mortar lined and tape wrapped in accordance with American Water Works
Association Standards. The third tank was installed in 1995 over an active area of
the mine. The location of the Ute Water surface facilities is shown of Exhibit 46.
The City of Palisade owns and maintains a raw water pipeline system which
transports water from collection points south and southeast of the permit area to a
water treatment and storage facility west of the Roadside South permit area. A 6-
inch cast iron pipeline conveys water from Cabin Reservoir south of the permit area
along Cottonwood Creek to the confluence with Rapid Creek. A second 6-inch
pipeline conveys raw water from collection points southeast of the permit area
along Rapid Creek to the junction where the two 6-inch lines wye into an 8-inch
pipeline which continues down Rapid Creek to the storage facility. The pipelines
are constructed of eighteen and twenty foot segments of cast iron bell-and spigot
pipe connected with leaded joints. The location and configuration of the pipelines
are mapped on Exhibit 46.
In 1995, a house and shop building were constructed on surface land owned by Mr.
Scroggins, located in Lot 2, Section 2, T11S, R98W. These buildings were located
directly over mined out portions of the Roadside South Portals where no further
mining will occur. Irrigation ditches were reestablished in 1992 and limited irrigation
started on portions of the Powder Mountain Ranch surface, located in Sections
20-1 (Rev. 08/07)
