The Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division) is required to make an
approval or denial decision no later than February 29, 2008, therefore, your response to the
following remaining adequacy review concerns should be submitted to the Division as soon as
possible. Your response should include two (2) copies. Any public comments that we receive on
your application during the interim will be forwarded to you.
Rule 6.4.6 Exhibit F -Reclamation Plan Map
The Reclamation Plan Map provides contour line for the portion of the pit that lies to the
south of the High Line Canal that meet the required 3h:ly slopes. However, it is unclear
what the contour elevations are on the map for the northern portion of the pit. It states
that there will be 3h:ly slopes, but the contours don't appear to match this description.
Please clarify this discrepancy in order for the Division to evaluate the potential impact to
the hydrologic balance.
Rule 6.4.7 Exhibit G- Water Information
2. The location of the cross-sectional diagram in the Young Technology Group, LLC Report
(the Young Report) designates the existing grade as approximately 4,440 feet. However,
the existing grade as illustrated in the application package maps (specifically Exhibit C,
Pre-Mining Plan Map) describes the elevation at that location to be 4,420 feet. In
addition, the application package maps show the elevation of the High Line Canal to be
slightly less than 4,410 feet, whereas the cross-sectional diagram in the Young Report
assumes that elevation to be approximately 4,417 feet. Please provide a revised report
based on the actual contour elevations, along with any related assumptions that would
change as a result of this discrepancy. Also, as a result of these discrepancies, the results
included in the Young Report maybe erroneous.
COLORADO
DIVISION O F
RECLAMATION
MINING
-&-
SAF ETY
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver Grand Junction Durango Active and Inactive Mines
