West Elk Mine 2006 Annual Hydrology Report 19 <br />3.2.1.9 Spring G-14 <br />• Spring G-14 is located in Sylvester Gulch east of the NE mine panel area (Map 2). This spring <br />issues from fractures in the base of a sandstone bed. It flows seasonally and is typically dry in the <br />late summer and fall. Monitoring at this spring began in 1977. <br />3.2.1.10 Spring G-22 <br />Spring G-22 is located in the Sylvester Gulch drainage on a hillside on the west side of the <br />drainage, just south of a mine ventilation shaft and east of the NE mine panel area (Map 2). It <br />issues from alluvium over a wide area and feeds a wetland on the west side of Sylvester Gulch. <br />Flow diminishes in late summer and autumn. Monitoring at this spring began in 1977. <br />3.2.2 Springs above the B Seam in the Box Canyon Area in the North <br />Fork Drainage Basin <br />3.2.2.1 ~rin,~ 11-2 <br />Spring 11-2 is located east of Box Canyon on a hillside on the south side of the North Fork (Map <br />2). This spring is situated north of the Box Canyon panels. It issues from alluvium below a <br />sandstone cliff, has seasonal flow, and is often dry in summer and autumn. Monitoring at this <br />spring began in 2000. This spring was permanently covered by well pad construction in WY 2006 <br />and will no longer be monitored. <br />3.2.2.2 Spring 10-1 <br />Spring 10-1 is located on the east side of Lower Box Canyon (Map 2). It is situated north of the <br />Box Canyon panels and issues from alluvium on slopes tributary to the North Fork. Flow is <br />seasonal and it is typically dry in late summer. Monitoring at this spring began in 1999. <br />3.2.2.3 Sprin Eg 10-2 <br />Spring E10-2 is located on a hillside east of an unnamed drainage tributary to the North Fork <br />between Sylvester Gulch and Box Canyon (Map 2). This spring is situated in landslide material <br />below a fractured sandstone cliff north of the Box Canyon panels. Low flows were observed in <br />WY 2005 and in the spring of WY 2006, but it has been damp or dry most of the period of record.. <br />Monitoring at this spring began in 1996. <br />3.2.2.4 Spring 1 S-1 <br />Spring 15-1 is located on the west side of an unnamed drainage tributary to the North Fork between <br />• Sylvester Gulch and Box Canyon (Map 2).
