III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division). This mine site is currently finishing the final
stages of reclamation of disturbed areas. An industrial land use bond release is currently
under review by the Division. Ground conditions were dry in most areas except on north-
facing slopes and the weather was mild.
Topsoil
The topsoil borrow area has been partial regraded and it appears that topsoiling operations
may be nearly complete. This area is an SAE and alternative sediment control measures will
be necessary once the area is regraded and reseeded.
Revegetation
Due to moderate weather conditions since the last inspection, the operator has been able to
conduct a significant amount of reclamation operations. Seeding and mulching of the last
few remaining areas appears nearly complete on the disturbed area of the mine. Seeding
along the Jeff Canyon haul road slope is partially complete at this time.
3
