Staff has calculated the initial reclamation liability for the proposed mine using
information within the application and information submitted by Cordilleran Compliance Services. The
estimate is based on what it would cost the state to hire a contractor to reclaim the site if the bond was
forfeited and not necessarily what it would cost Marathon Oil Company to do the -work.
Staff s estimate for the proposed reclamation of the site is $20,676.00. This is slightly higher than the
recommended $20,000.00 stated in the permit application and for similar types of operations. Please review
the estimate carefully. Should there be any questions or corrections contact staff immediately.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety,
Grand Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St., Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, telephone no.
970.623.5596.
Sincerely,
~~~ i~
Travis Marshall
EPS I, Grand Junction Field Office
Cc: Carl Mount, Senior Environmental Protection Specialist, North Team Supervisor.
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines
