(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1983-132
INSPECTION DATE 10/25/2007
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS DEZ
This routine monitoring inspection of Permit Number M-1983-132 (DeWitt Excavating) was conducted by Deb E. Zack of the
DRMS. No company representative was available for this inspection. The pit is located % mile southwest of Lamar, CO, and
currently consists of approximately 9.9 acres where approximately 9 acres have been disturbed.
Mine entrance signs and permit boundary markers are all in place; white PVC posts denote the permit boundaries. This site
consists of a blown sand dune, and there is a distinct lack of topsoil both on the permit area, as well as all of the native
surrounding area.
It appears that the majority of the site's sand has been mined down to a level where an acceptable growth medium for
vegetation exists. Mining activity appears to have reached its limit on the eastern boundary, and the operator is reminded to use
caution if any additional work is required along this boundary line (see photo 2).
All activities and completed work at the time of inspection appeared to follow the guidelines and regulations set forth by the
state and the mining and reclamation plans for the pit, and no problems are noted for this site. The site is stable and no
disturbance was observed outside of the approved permit boundaries.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Deb E. Zack at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety,
Denver Office, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado 80203, phone number 303-866-4179.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Mr. Terry DeWitt
OPERATOR DeWitt Excavating.
