6. DISTURBANCES
Six mining and reclamation phase maps depicting the
present and future status of lands within the Climax property
have been developed in a sequential time order and entered in
Appendix I and at the end of Section 6. Phase I through Phase VI
maps illustrate the changes that occur in lard status of 53
disturbance sites including those disturbed to date (1977) and
ending with the approximate year 2026. Disturbed sites are
labeled on maps and referred to with numerals, (1) through (43) ,
while pre-1969 disturbed sites are labeled on maps and referred
to with letters, (A) through (K) . Illustrated land status is
symbolized or color coded on the maps to indicate affected,
reclaimed, in the process of being stabilized and revegetated, or
disturbed prior to 1969 and not subject to bonding. Reclaimed
lands symbolized on Phase I map are those lands that Climax
considers to have a self-sustaining vegetation growth. Sites
under the process of being stabilized and revegetated are so
labeled and symbolized on the phase maps, but also they remain
legally affected. Once the site is determined to be reclaimed,
it is so indicated by not being labeled or symbolized on the
subsequent phase map and therefore not subject to further bonding.
Correlated with the phase maps is a timetable, (Table
6. 1) , which indicates for each disturbed site the changes in land
status acreage from one phase to the next. Since disturbances
and reclamation are on-going processes throughout all phases,
6-1
