of diesel-powered rubber-tired equipment. Equipment includes
locomotives, side-dump ore cars, jackleg drills, overcast
loaders, slusher hoists, load-haul-dump units, and mobile, rubber
tired hydraulic jumbo drills.
Fresh air is heated and pushed by fans into the mine at
No. 7 shaft and passed through the haulage drifts, up and through
the slusher drifts and exits the mine through a series of venti-
lation drifts and raises with exhaust fans. The crusher area
vent raise extends from the 600 Level underground crusher to the
surface.
2. 6 CRUSHING AND MILLING
Crushing and milling facilities are located at the main
• Climax sry._te (5) , the Storke level (5) and underground. Primary
crushers are situated on the surface at the main Climax site and
primary gyratory crushers are located on the surface at Storke
Level and underground on the 600 Level. Secondary crushing is by
standard cone crushers. Tertiary crushing is by shorthead cone
crushers. All fine ore is then conveyed to the mill fine ore bin
to complete milling processes of primary grinding in ball mills,
primary concentration by flotation, cleaner concentration and
then filtering, drying and packaging. Most of the product is
shipped to Climax reduction plants in Langeloth, Pennsylvania;
Rotterdam, The Nederlands; and other foreign plants. By-products
include tungsten, tin and pyrite concentrates. Tailing from the
mill is delivered by gravity to three tailing -ponds for deposition.
2-10
