Additional Page
2007 Annual Report
Menzer Quarry
M-1976-009-HR
Schmidt Construction Company
Anniversary Date: December 31
Overview of Permit Year: During the 2007 operating year there was a great deal of activity at this site.
However, the quarry changed only a little. This was because, as has been the case for some time, most of
material that was mined was within areas that had previously been identified as mining. Mining primarily
occurred on the north side and the southwestern corner of Phase 1. Mining on the middle of the south side of
the operation where mining has been done the last few years has essentially been complete.
Annual Report Maps: Like the 2006 annual report map, this map is prepared using the new topographic
map prepared in 2004.
Affected Lands: The amount of affected has increased slightly from last year. Although training on the north
side of the operation lowered that area considerably, expansion was virtually zero.
Stability Problem Area: This issue has now been resolved with the successful removal of the top of this knob.
It is now stable and no longer a problem. The remaining portions axe to be lowered to the same level as the
adjacent mined areas and will then disappear completely.
Revegetation: The site is stable and is not subject to erosion. No revegetation was done in 2007 as no land
was available to revegetate.
Expected Activity (2008): Mining will continue in areas that have already been opened for mining. Any
further expansion of the affected land will most likely occur in the northeastern portions of Phase 1 as that area
continues to descend in elevation as rock is removed.
Bonding: This operation is covered by a self bond.
Schmidt Construction Company 2007 Annual Report M-76-009-HR Menzer Quarry Page 1 of 1
