ORIGINAL -PUBLIC FILE
(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: nn-t9RR-t59
INSPECTION DATE: t ~/~~/~~ INSPECTOR^S INITIALS: ~-
OBSERVATIONS
The Division .conducted a monitoring inspection of the site as part of sites to be
inspected during the fiscal years 2007-2008.Presnt During the inspection was Mr. Rusty
Cochran of Lafrge.
1) Site used to be a Phased 112 sand and gravel operation covering approximately182.70
acres permitted with a maximum of 49 areas to be affected at any given time, located
with in the city limits of Pueblo. The operator annual report shows a permit acreage
of 86.39.When site was amended in 2002, the total permit acres shows 182.7 acres.
There was an acreage reduction revision that was approved in 2002 that reduced the
acreage by approximately 17 acres of undisturbed acres and swapped the same amount
of acres in another area. The Division believes the annual report might be referring
to the total phased affected acres as the permit acres. Given the lack of a good
permit area maps, the Division request the operator to provide copies of the pre-
mining, mining, and reclamation maps for the permit area.
2) Most of the affected acres with the exception of areas covered with a small
stockpile of processed material, small stock pile of recycled asphalt, and small
scale house, and concrete slabs and an old water tank, the rest of the areas
affected by the operation have been top soiled and seeded, according to Rusty.
3) The site is divided into the North side and south side with a pip line running east
and west as the dividing line.
4) Reclaimed pit slopes appeared at or 3:1 slope or gentler, no sign of erosion
features were noted.
5) The entire area was driven and inspected, as noted above, the old scale house minus
the scale is still in place. Rusty said the areas still not reclaimed, including the
scale house and processed stockpiles will be reclaimed with in the next year.
According to Rusty, there are no plans to mine and once all the mining related
structures are removed from site, reclamation will commence.
6) The current warranty for the site is $73,556.00, which is more than adequate to
cover the cost of reclaiming the areas still in need of reclamation.
7) No noxious weed infestation noted at the time of the inspection.
8) Permit sign and boundary markers properly posted.
18~ E Contact Address
NAME: ROBERT RAY
OPERATOR: LAFARGE
STREET: lnl7n CHUCH RANCH WAY
CITY/STATE/ZIP: WESTMINSTER CCU ~~mt
r BL
r FS,
r HW
r HMWMD (CH)
r
r SE
r WQCD (CH)
r OTHER
cc: r CE
