Daniel M. Russell
Oak Creek Gravel Pit
9042 South 106 Road
Alamosa, Colorado 81101
719-589-3004 ext. 110
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
303-866-3567
December 19, 2007
RE: Annual report, Oak Creek Gravel Pit, M-1989-084.
Dear Sirs:
The attached map shows the condition of the pit. During 2007 approximately
0.25 acres of new excavation occurred along the northern limits of the existing
pit. We anticipate an additional 0.5 acres of new excavation along the north and
northwest sides of the existing pit during 2008. The detention pond that was
created in 2006 at the southeast corner of the pit worked well during the 2007
season.
As shown on the attached map, we are proposing to reslope and reseed a small
area just west of the stockpiles during 2008. This will allow us the opportunity
to reclaim a portion of the disturbed ground and to access the success of our
seed mix.
Although during 2007 we anticipated applying for a revision of the pit
boundaries from the current 25.56 acres to 36.04 acres to bring the permit
boundary into agreement with the ownership lines and with the limits of the
Conditional Use Permit granted by Freemont County as per CUP 06-002
(Rockbottom Gravel Pit), we determined that the slow growth of the pit did not
warrant the expansion at this time. We still anticipate adding the additional 10.5
acres at some point in the future.
,Sins rely,
C ~1
Daniel M. R sell
Rockbottom, LLC
