A review of the responses made
regarding the Preliminary Adequacy Review has generated a few more clarifications and issues that need to be
addressed.
1) Please clarify what will happen with the overburden that is to be removed to reach the deposit of interest.
Will it be stock piled on site for reclamation or hauled off of the site for construction purposes? If it is to be
left on site and reclaimed, please indicate on the map where it will be placed and what techniques will be
used to reclaim it.
2) In the Mine Plan specify the thickness of the deposit to be mined per rule 6.3.3(d).
The response to this question in the PAR stated that you will mine to a depth of approximately 60 feet below
the original site grade. The Mining and Reclamation maps both indicate that the original site grade is 8,246
feet and the post mining elevation is 8210 feet. According to the elevations provided only 36 feet total will be
mined. Please state a consistent depth of the deposit to be mined.
3) Please clarify how the fina13H:1 V slopes will be established from 2H:1 V. Specifically, will the "Stockpile
and Loading Area" indicated on the Mine Plan Map be excavated and used for final backfill of the high wall?
State how the rest of the 2H:1 V slopes will be established and specify where the material used for backfilling
will come from.
4) Is mining going to begin on the north east entrance of the mine? If so, please describe what sediment
controls will be used in the early stages of mining.
5) To assure better topsoil stockpile protection the division recommends relocating the stockpile to the high side
of the pit floor along the road to the southeast. If the stockpile location is not relocated to that position, a
berm constructed at the base of the stockpile is recommended for better protection.
Office of ~ Office of
Mined Land Reclamation ~~ Active and Inactive Mines
