III. COMMENTS-COMPLIANCE <br /> Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the <br /> inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or <br /> evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br /> This was a partial inspection conducted by Joe Dudash of the Colorado DRMS.No one represented the operator <br /> during the inspection.The site had received a recent precipitation event. <br /> H dy rology <br /> The sediment pond had a little ice-covered water in it.The primary and emergency spillways were operational. <br /> The pond embankment appeared to be stable. <br /> The standing water level in the hillside spring water treatment pond was just below the horizontal pipe in the <br /> pond.The treatment pond embankment appeared to be stable and the spillways were functioning properly. <br /> Roads <br /> There was some snow and ice on the paved entrance road. The bridge across the North Fork of the Gunnison <br /> River also had snow on it. However,the road and bridge were passable. <br /> Signs and Markers <br /> The mine ID sign post is on the ground and needs to be put back upright. The"no trespassing"sign was up on <br /> the entrance gate. <br /> Facilities <br /> The demolished mine office building has not been burned yet,although that may occur in a week or so.The <br /> entrance gate to the mine site was closed. <br /> Reclamation <br /> The reclaimed portal bench road appeared to be well vegetated and stable.The reclaimed east side fan area was <br /> also well vegetated and showed no signs of slope instability.The reclaimed west side portal area does not have a <br /> good vegetative cover near the cliff face. <br /> c:/word/bear3/insp 1207 <br />
