Agassiz Seed & Supply ~ Regreen ~ West Fargo, ND

Regreen
Cool Season, Soil Stabilizing Nurse Crop
Regreen, a wheat x wheatgrass hybrid, produces a sterile plant. After it dies out it
does not leave a new generation of plants behind to compete with the slower
growing perennial species. A highly versatile temporary cover crop, Regreen can
be planted in either the spring or fall in most climates.
A large seed allows Regreen to germinate quickly and get one step ahead of any
potential weeds. A dense, fibrous root system enhances Regreen's ability to
stabilize the soil surtace and provide vigorous seedlings. A deep root system also
allows the plant to be drought tolerant, winterhardy and adaptable to varying soil
and moisture conditions. With characteristics from both parents, wheat and
wheatgrass, Regreen is ideal for aiding in the establishment of costly native plant
communities. This long-lived annual plant will survive in a variety of soil types and
objective calls for a nurse crop, Regreen is your answer!
Applications
• Welland • Mining Site • Ski Areas
• Forest Fires • Pipelines • Logging
• Roadsides • Landfills • Construction Sites
• Erodible Hillsides • Waterways • Grazing Areas
Plant Description
Technically speaking, Regreen is a cross between wheat and wheatgrass (triticum x agropyron). This match is made in the
production field. The final product is one-quarter wheatgrass and three-quarters wheat. Regreen takes on many of the
strong plant characteristics of wheat such as quick germination, large seed size (approximately 10,000 - 12,000 seeds per
pound), excellent seedling vigor, dense root development and drought tolerance. The unique benefit of Regreen is the non-
viable seed this plant produces. Never again will a site manager have to deal with unwanted "volunteer" plants from a cover
crop.
Seeding Rates
When seeded in a mix with other perennial grasses for stabilizing cover and minimal competition, 10 pounds per acre is
adequate. When seeding a monoculture for maximum soil stabilization, 40 - 50 pounds per acre is desirable. For best
results, seed should be placed in a firm seed bed with ample moisture, one inch below the surface. In a dry site, place seed
slightly deeper so germination will not occur until sufficient precipitation is received to penetrate the soil and support plant
life. Use a drill, hyrdoseeder or a spin spreader to apply the seed.
Native Grasses and Mother Nature's Helper
Many governmental agencies are now requiring disturbed areas be reseeded with expensive native plant materials and/or
"site-specific" seed. When the success of your project depends on the survival of expensive and sensitive species, Regreen
is Mother Nature's Helper. Apply Regreen one year ahead of the permanent cover, or with hard to establish native grasses
and it will act as a temporary protection without crowding out the perennials in the second year of growth. The skeletons of
dying Regreen plants offer protection from wind and will assist in holding snowcover when insulation is necessary. Regreen
can be planted as a monoculture in sites where native species are expected to revegitate themselves over a period of time.
Use Mother Nature's Helper to ensure the success of your project.
Cereals • Forages • Inoculants • Treatments • Lawn • Turf • Corn • Alfalfa • Twine
Seedburo • Motomco • Nashua Tape • Harper Brooms • 3M Masks • Ames Scoops
I ti.ome.
