(Page 2)
MINE ID * OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1991-1d7
INSPECTION DATE: Nnyp-mher 99 207 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: J]R9
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine inspection conducted by David Bird of DRMS. Present during the inspection was Mr. Bill
Johannsen, President of C&C Sand and Stone Co. The site is located in Douglas County about 10 miles north of
Woodland Park. Access to the site is via Highway 67 north from Woodland Park, then unimproved roads
branching from USFS road 348. Material mined at this site consists of sandy dolomite with ultimate use as either
building or decorative stone.
The site was inactive at the time of the inspection, although Mr. Johannsen stated that there had been product
moved from the mine earlier in the year. The only equipment on site at the time of the inspection was a screen,
plus a portable toilet and other miscellaneous items inside a small fenced enclosure. The signage and permit
boundaries are adequate. The mine is located within private land, behind two locked gates, so the likelihood
of public access by vehicle is low.
No problems were observed during the inspection. In a file review following the inspection, the 1991 Permit
Application stated that topsoil would be stockpiled for later use. The Division's 2001 inspection report noted the
existence of topsoil stockpiles, but no obvious topsoil stockpiles were seen during this inspection, and Mr.
Johannsen was not aware of any stockpiles. The Division recommends that the Operator attempt to locate
these topsoil stockpiles and ensure that they are integrated into the reclamation plan, as topsoil in the mine
area is quite thin.
The Division's recalculation of the financial warranty indicates that the current amount of $5,000 is adequate, so
no further action is required of the operator.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Bill Johannsen
OPERATOR: Belvedere Stone LLC
STREET: 9A35 Stppl Dr
CITY/STATE/ZIP: ('nlnradc) Sprinnc CQ Rn907
cc: r CE
r BL
r FS
r HW
r HMWMD (CH)
r SE
F WQCD (CH)
F OTHER
