III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of CDMG. The Hawk's Nest Mine is a
revoked/forfeited mine permit that was reclaimed in 1995, with additional reclamation work since that
time. The site has a reduced inspection frequency of one complete and three partial inspections each
year.
No one else was present during the inspection. The travel trailer that on occasion has been parked in
the East Mine area was not there.
Signs and Markers
This revoked permit site has no signs or markers.
Roads
No roads exist on the site that are associated with the mine.
Hydrologic Balance
The sediment control pond(in the West mine area) was dry.
General Mine Plan Compliance
No problems were found in either the East or the West Mine areas.
Revegetation
Vegetative cover appears good throughout the site. No weed problems were found.
Slides and Damage
The mudslide area on the road embankment on the north side of the paved road (old Highway 133), in
the East mine area, appeared drier and more stable than it has in the past. The State maintains this
road.
