Fall 2007 Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
Box Canyon, Apache Rocks, and South of Divide Mining Ar
I~his particular drill pad was created using a large amount of till, particularly on the south and
«~st sides, while the northeast corner of the pad appears to have been cut into sandstone and
siltstonr hedrock units of the Wasttch Formation. It is above the thickest fill area that the
N i0°W trending crack series was observed. The southern exposure of the crack has a ~-4 inch
offset to the southwest; a characteristic consistent with settlement rather than mine suhsidence
(Figure l~)).
•
Figure 19. Cracks observed over the deepest fill area on the drill
pad for MDWs 19-04 and 19-05. The cracks are less visible this
fall compared to their appearance in the spring 2007 field visit
(compare with Figure 14 of the spring 2007 report). This may be
the result of surface re-grading.
5.5 Traverse E-E'
Traverse E-E' begins at a ti~rk in the main West Flatiron drill road and ends at the drill pad for
\il)\~'; ~?-U~ an~1 ~?-l)(,, ~~ I~i~h is cii~a»~~n~hl~cl.
