Two isolated finds were located during this inventory and cultural
resource clearance is recommended for the project.
It is our recommendation that no further inventories be required for National King Coal's
subsurface mining operations in this area. First, only two IFs have been located in the 260 acres
of block surveys done to date in the area, and no other sites or IFs have been recorded in the
general vicinity, even in the recent Bureau of Reclamations Class II inventory by SWCA
immediately to the south. The terrain and vegetation and lack of nearby water make significant
prehistoric sites unlikely. Secondly, due to the nature of the project, there is no surface
disturbance other than possible minor subsidence, which is monitored monthly by the Office of
Surface Mining.
Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions concerning this report.
Sincerely,
G% ~~
Nancy S.
