2.04.12 -PRIME FARMLAND INVESTIGATION
<br />The surface area (disturbed area) of the King I Mine contains no prime
<br />farmland. The private surface overlying the underground mine works contains no
<br />prime farmland. The private surface overlying the proposed coal lease contains no
<br />prime farmland.
<br />1) The land has not been historically used as a cropland. Livestock grazing
<br />and some hay crops have been grown in the Hay Gulch Meadow.
<br />2) The U. S. Soil Conservation Service has not designated the areas of the
<br />mine bench or the surface areas above the mine workings as prime
<br />farmland. This includes but is not limited to Sections 31 and 32, T35N,
<br />R 11 W, La Plata County, Colorado.
<br />REQUEST FOR NEGATIVE DETERMINATION OF PRIME FARMLANDS
<br />National King Coal, LLC requests a negative determination of prime farmlands
<br />at the National King Coal, LLC King I Mine.
