3. Describe the measures to be taken for release of a reportable quantity of a hazardous material or
the release of a toxic substance. This includes plans for spill prevention, containment,
notification, and cleanup.
There will be no release of toxic materials due to this operation
Additionally the mined substances do not produce any toxic substances.
Should we have an accidental spill of diesel fuel we will follow the shill reporting rule as outlined
bathe Division of Minerals and Geology dated 2 A~iga.~* 2005 This includes nohfving the DMG
and the South Park Ra~~er District It also includes treating with aeration and introducing oil-
degradi ~ bacteria
H. Reclamation. Describe the annual and final reclamation standards based on the anticipated
schedule for construction, operations, and project closure. Include such items as the removal of
structures and facilities .including bridges and culverts, a revegetation plan, permanent
containmenrt of mine tailings, waste, or sludges which pose a threat of a release into the
environment, closing ponds and eliminating standing water, a final surface shaping plan, and
post operations monitoring and maiirtenance plans.
_ Each portion of the main excavation will be closed and reclaimed as soon as uossible after minin .
~Duriii~g operations an excavation may be partially filled and reclauned instead of waiting until the
entire site has been excavated In any case no completed portion of an excavation will remain
_ un reclaimed after completion for more than a season with one exception Pit A which is currently
open will be reclaimed over the next three seasons as material is excavated from the upper pit and
the remaining area at Pit A,.planned for excavation is completed Due to its present size we cannot
complete this reclamation is a single _season '
Reclamation will consist of refilling the excavation with stored waste rock and boulders and regrading
_ the site Some boulders wi11 not be buried. but will be used to landscape the area to appear more like
its natural surroundin~L which consists of decomposing_granite boulders and outcrops. The stored
topsoil will then be spread and the mound will be reseeded usin~~the South Park Distnct's drv/lower
elevation seed mix Whenever possible trees will be planted the following year. All sites will be
monitored annually for growth If reclamation should not be successful for any given site. the
process will be reheated until SO% coverage or better is achieved and the habitat has been
returned to a productive and health status
All heavy traffic areas walk warms far equipment non-system roads including the preserrt lo~~in~
--road, working pads camp sites and an_-3' other disturbed areas will also be reclauned in a like
_ fashion Additionally all pre-existin hand-dug..pits, trenches and excavations within the immediate
area of o erations will also be reclaimed.
(If more space is needed to fill out a block of information, use additional sheets and attach to farnc)
