COLORADO DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY
ANNUAL REPORT FOR
SPEER MINING RESOURCE
M-1983-176 AM-3
ASPHALT SPECIALTIES CO., INC.
DECEMBER 9, 2006 TO DECEMBER 9, 2007
1. TOTAL ACRES IN PERMIT AREA: 75.5
2. TOTAL PERMITTED MINEABLE ACRES: 57.2
3. CURRENT TOTAL ACRES DISTURBED: APPROX. 55.6
4. TOTAL ACRES MINED DURING REPORT YEAR: NONE
5. CURRENT TOTAL ACRES IN VARIOUS STAGES OF RECLAMATION:
APPROX. 9.5
6. TOTAL ACRES RECLAIMED DURING REPORT YEAR: NONE
7. APPROXIMATE ACREAGE TO BE MINED IN NEXT REPORT YEAR: NONE
8. APPROXIMATE ACREAGE TO BE RECLAIMED IN NEXT REPORT YEAR:
57.0
No mining during the report year was accomplished on this permit site. Only re-
processing of pre-existing gravel was performed on the site. No seeding or revegetation
was implemented on this permit site, as the overburden stockpile is in various stages of
disturbance with the addition and subtraction of material.
Currently, the shop building will be left as part of the final reclamation of the site to
water-storage. The scale -and scalehouse will be removed to another location. The office
building (an old farmhouse) will be torn down. Reclamation during the next reporting
year should be implemented as complete reclamation to a water storage facility. Large
scale backfilling of Area 4 will be implemented in the early part of 2008 and reservoir
construction will commence shortly after that. Near complete reclamation of the site
should be accomplished in 2008.
Per the requirements of this permit, attached are groundwater-monitoring results for the 2
monitoring wells located on the permit area that we are still monitoring. Because no new
areas have been opened up with dewatering trenches, all monitoring wells (located
outside of the permitted mineable area) have shown that water levels have stabilized and
no fluctuations are occurring. Upon final reclamation of the site, all nearby water levels
will return to normal.
