• 1992 Disturbance Area <br />The 1992 Annual Reclamation Report, Exhibit 92.1, shows the limits of disturbance as of <br />January 1, 1993. The disturbance line as shown on this exhibit depicts all disturbance <br />associated with the mining operation including haul road construction, topsoil removal <br />and storage, open pits, spoil piles, etc. The area disturbed in 1992 includes the <br />topsoil removal area and soil stockpiles wo, PP, RR, 55, 11, and HH. The entire area <br />totals 130.4 acres. <br />Bac kfilling end Grading <br />As of January 1, 1993, the overburden stripping end coal removal operations have advanced <br />sufficiently to initiate grading operations in the vicinity of the original box cut. A <br />total of 18.8 acres were graded in 1992. These areas are shown on Exhibit 92.1, 1992 <br />Annual Reclamation Report. <br />Light-use Roads <br />Peabody committed in TR-9 of Permit L-82-057 to listing end updating light-use road <br />locations end associated culvert Locations in the Annual Reclamation Report. No <br />. additional light-use road locations end associated culverts were constructed during the <br />1992 field season. <br />Soil end Sooil Monitoring <br />Peabody is required by Permit C-82-057 to monitor the salvage, storage and redistribution <br />of soil and the spoil handling operations et Seneca II-M Mine. Specific programs include <br />documenting soil recovery, verifying soil redistribution thickness, determining final <br />graded spoil suitability in the Lennox Coal outcrop sampling area, determining soil <br />fertility, evaluating plant rooting characteristics, recording the source of replaced <br />soil, and completing an annual soil balance. The following sections present the soil end <br />spoil monitoring data for the 1992 calendar year. <br />Soil Recovery Documentation. Soil recovery limits end depths were recorded on the soil <br />map by Peebody~s western Division soil scientist on April 16, July 13, September 18, and <br />October 14 [o document the actual thickness of soil recovered during the 1992 field <br /> season. Lolor photographs of the soil profile and landscape were taken to verify the <br /> thickness of soil recovered. The field notes end photographs for each soil observation <br />• site ere on file et the Peabody western Division office in Flagstaff, Arizona. <br />1 <br />
