Seneca II -Nine groups of elk were observed within the Seneca II survey azea (Table 1). Five <br />elk were observed in a mountain brush "island" in the middle of the reclaimed azea of the mine site in <br />section 2. Twenty-eight elk were observed north of the mine site along the ridges in section 36 and 25. <br />The remaining elk were either found in section 10 or section 14. One eagle was observed nesting at the <br />site in section 27 and another was observed soazing over section 12. <br />Yoast - A total of 73 elk in 11 observations were made on the Yoast survey azea. The majority <br />of the elk were observed along the ridges adjacent to Grassy Creek. <br />Seneca II -West - A total of 215 were observed in 23 different observations. Only one <br />observation of 4 elk was observed within the northern portion of the permit boundary. The majority of <br />the elk occurred to the south and east of the permit boundazy. Ten deer were observed on open slopes <br />in section 9. <br /> <br />~~ <br />2 <br />
