Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
Apacho Rocks ono Box Canyon Mining Areas
July 12-15.2004
Figure gA. Figure 12 from the 2003 report.
f.Ol'aUU^ 8:
Spring located near the mouth of a northwest•trending side canyron on the cast side of Ihep
Creek, where the overburden depth to the B Scam is about 1,000 feet (Figure 10). This point is
Iexuted a distance of approximately 800 feet south of the headgate entries of mined longwall
panel 17.
The point is likely out of the angle of mining influence (calculated angle of draw equals 22
degrces), because the maximum proj~;ted angle of draw for the West Elk mining area is 20
degrees.
The Ilow of the spring, which is located in mud and soil, is similar to that of last year
(Figure 10).
The springy Ilow is estimated to be about U.t g;il!uns per minute (gpm).:uul is appru~imatel~
the same ~alumc as was ob.crved in ~uli~,
Wnght Water Engineers, Ina Pepe 22
