Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations <br />Apache Rocks and Box Canyon Mining Areas <br />July 12-15.2004 <br />Location 6: <br />Point is located in an area containing irregular, branching, and diverging crocks on the narrow <br />part of the ridge on West Flatiron (Figure 8). <br />Figure 8. Irregular, branching and diverging crocks in clay of the Wasatch Formation, located on top of <br />Wost Flatiron. <br />• The cracks are located above projceted headgate entries of un-mined longwall panel 19. <br />Overburden depth to the H Seam is slightly greater than 2,200 feet. <br />• The crocks, which are located in weathert~tl clay of the Wasatch Fornuuion, trend roughly <br />parallel to the ridge (northward) and art as much as 1.3 inches wide and 10 to I S fv~a long. <br />• The crocks appear to be primarily caused by a lateral wmponent o(gravity spreading into the <br />dcxp canyon on either sidc~Box Canyon to the west and Raven Creek to the cast. llowcvcr, <br />there may be a component of desiccation as well. <br />• Summary of observations about crocks on Coot traverse F-F': <br />83t-032.610 Wright WaterEnglneeB, Inc.
