Close•up view o1 the rockfall that occurred on June 30. 2004. The overhanging rock above the
rockfall joint surface may also lad along the same surface m the near lulure.
According to n report by 1Yendell Koontz, geologist for Mountain Cual Company, the
roxkfall, which covered an area 35 to 40 feet wide attd about 8U feet high, occurred on June
30. 2004. The fall temporarily blocked the access road to the top of West Flatiron.
A large slab of rock is still located above the rockfall area.
