Area 1B - 100 Douglas Fir seedlings were planted
on this North facing slope during late April, 1882.
Area 2 - This area was not scheduled for reclama-
tion. However, in order to cut down visual impact
of the high wall, the area was planted in May of
1982. It constitutes ±3 acres. The seed mix is
as follows:
Common Name
Western Wheatgrass, Barton
Slender Wheatgrass
Streambank Wheatgrass, Sodar
Crested Wheatgrass, Fairway
Russian Wildrye
Sherman Big Bluegrass
Ruebens Canada Bluegrass
Green Needlegrass
Needle and Thread
Blue Gramma
Side Oats Gramma
Blue Flax
Lbs/Acre
Pure Live Seed
6
3
2
2
2
2
2
1
.5
2
2
.5
Item 5 - "Type and approximate quantity of fertilizers, organic
materials or soil conditioners used and location of
use."
Small nutrient pellets were placed in the tree roots
during planting. Other than this, no other materials
were utilized. Additional fertilization for the en-
tire area is scheduled for later this year.
Item 6 - "Appraisal of the success of the reclamation efforts
to date."
Cooley Gravel Company is very pleased with the success
of this project to date. Given the harsh nature of a
quarry site such as this, we feel that the program
is a model project for other similar operations in
the State. The plantings are thriving and the survi-
val rate is about what was expected. The drip irriga-
tion system functions very well and has a secondary
benefit of water conservation.
Item 7 - "Estimates of the location and number of acres to be
affected in the coming year."
Mining will continue in the existing quarry area. A
pioneer road and some stripping will occur over a
±5 acre area to the South on the newly permitted
property.
Item 8 - The effective date of this report is June 6, 1982.
-2-
