Sedimentation Ponds Insaection
Dear Bryan:
As per our recent discussion, I contacted Mr. Randy Booco,
on-site maintenance supervisor for the Meadows No.l Mine,
regarding observation of the Sedimentation Ponds for the
winter 1994 condition report. Mr. Booco was supplied with a
listing of the conditions to be observed, and his
observations were conducted on 29December94 and reported to
me on that same date. I am confident that Mr. Booco's
description of the conditions at each of the four ponds is
accurate and commensurate with the data required by the
Division of Minerals and Geology. These data are as follows:
Lower Sedimentation Pond No.l
1. Structural Weakness - None
2. Erosion and Vegetation - Snow cover obscures the land
surface.
3. Hazardous or Potentially Hazardous Conditions - None
4. Sediment Level - Minor ice and drifted snow in the pond
bottom prevent observation.
5. Required Maintenance - None
6. Discharge Structures - No fluid movement through the
dewatering device, the pipe is clear of debris and the
emergency spillway is covered by drifted snow.
7. Input Structures - Obscured by snow cover
Ua~er Sedimentation Pond No.2
Items 1,2,3,5,6 and 7 - As above
4. Sediment Level - The ice level in the pond is about
one foot below the base of the primary dewatering device.
Snow drifts are common in the containment area, and sedi-
ment levels cannot be observed.
