• Revegetation.
Revegetation activities in 1990 included temporary and permanent revegetation of
disturbance areas at the Nucla Mine. All areas seeded in 1990 are shown on ExhibiT 1.
Temporary revegetation using Seed Mix #3 (Tab 22 Nucla Permit L-81-008) was completed at
topsoil stockpiles 0 and 13 and on topsoil berms located adjacent to the monitoring well
access road in the western portion of the permit area. Stockpiles 8 and 13 were
broadcast seeded at the specified rate far this seeding method. The topsoil berms and
access road were seeded using a combination of broadcast and drill seeding at the rate
Specified for each method. Seed Mix #3 was also used to temporarily revegetate Sediment
ponds 001, 002, 004, 005, and 006. The seeding of these ponds inc lauded the embankment
areas and the pond areas above the designed high water line. The pond areas were
broadcast seeded using Seed Mix #3 at the specified broadcast rate.
Permanent seeding was completed on 15.3 acres in the Pit 2 reclamation area and the
former locations at topsoil stockpiles 9 and 10 (Exhibit 1). Seedbed preparation in these
areas consisted of disking operations on the contour. The permanent seed mix (Seed Mix 1,
• Tab 22) was drill seeded at the specified rate in the fall of 1990.
All permanently revegetated acres were mulched with clean grain straw at a rate of one
ton/acre. The applied mulch was anchored 6y crimping. There was no mulching conducted on
temporary revegetated areas.
There were no weed control or reveg et atian monitoring activities conducted at the Nucla
Mine in 1990.
Chronological History of Revegetation.
Previously revegetated areas at Nucla Mine are listed by field number in Table 5 and shown
on Exhibit 2. The revegetation field identification consists of a two digit number
identifying the year the field was final seeded (e.g., 90=1990), followed by either a
single number or a combination number and le[t er (e.g., - 1 or - 1A). The single number
or combination number and letter is unique [o each field. A single number following the
seeding year indicates the field was revegetated using a particular seeding treatment ar
seed mix.

4
