Pueblo East Pit
2003 Annual Report
Transit Mix of Pueblo
M-1986-015
Overview of Permit Year: During the year the reclamation permit was amended.
Three hundred seventy acres were added to bring the total permitted acreage up to
442.50. Mining has continued steadily westward and previous water supply issues
with an adjacent landowner have been resolved.
Annual Report Map: Two maps are being submitted with this year's annual
report. A general site map is included along with the annual report map. The annual
report map this year differs from last years map in that all of phase one can be seen.
Activity: Mining and material extraction has progressed steadily westward in the pit.
With the passage of the amendment Transit Mix was able to push through the
previous permit boundary, a former drainage ditch running north-south through the
property. The plant site has expanded southward by three acres. Additional
stockpiling room was needed to accommodate the new plant. The berm adjacent to
the haul road parallel with the river was raised in elevation. Springtime floodings were
higher than anticipated. The new sediment basin was rebuilt so that a larger volume
of sediment could be contained.
Revegetation: Because mining is in its beginning stages no revegetatlon has taken
place yet. Transit Mix plans on seeding topsoil stockpiles in 2004.
Expected Activity: Mining will continue to push westward. Phase 1 will most
likely last two years. This timeframe ultimately hinges on the market and the quality
of the deposit.
