TXI BOULDERO
To: State of Colorado
Division ofMinerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street
From: Gary Feiner
Plant Manager
TXI Boulder
RE: Permit No. M1988-108
Western Aggregates, Mining Report Data
Date 11/10/2004
RECEIVED
NDV 14 2Q04
Division ~f Minerals and Geology
Western Aggregates TXI Boulder Permit Number 1988-108 is actively
mining and reclaiming at 11728 Hwy. 93 near Boulder. During the year ending
in 2004 all pit benching has been completed and floor elevation on the north
West Side of the pit has been reached. Quarry depth in the permit--- desired
depth reached. Reclamation is still ongoing. We have closed the size of the
quarry some in the last year and at this time we calculate we have about 15
acres total open. With the amount of mineable area we still have open we
won't need to disturb any surface area for at least another year or so. We will
continue to move any overburden on the north east face and will eventually
move the pond area that we have now to the south and reclaim the whole north
face as we continue to mine toward the south. As we do this we will continue
to slope to proper grade and plant grass on the North face.
We still have an ongoing Knapp weed program in place and we are still using
the same herbicide applicator as our neighbors (Rocky Flats). This area
includes all of TXI Boulder's leased and fee property. We believe that a
combined effort helps to control Knapp weed countywide.
We have also enclosed a picture of the quarry and how it looks.
~~
Gary Feiner
Plant Manager
TXI Boulder
AJw
Cc.: Stephen England
