.'

Mr. Marcus Middleton -3- July 29, 1993
Twentymile Coal Company
Alluvial Wel/s
All requirements were met.
Surface Water
1 . There were no May values for site 7.
2. No June level was shown for Site 305 or Site 307.
3. There are no flow values for site 800.
Discharge and Pond Sites
All requirements were met.
Springs
1 . Most metals are missing from the November sample of spring 303-1 . This was also
the case in the previous year, and the response indicated this was appropriate as per
the plan. Please explain.
Water Quality Analysis
Bedrock Wells
1. Well 006-83-48C will be replaced as per the minor revision (MR-92) issued 7/23/93.
Monitoring will begin with the 1994 water year (October 1993 sampling). This well is
apparently contaminated by casing grout, accounting for the high EC readings since
1989.
2. Well FBR-11A, a Wadge overburden well recently acquired from Pittsburg & Midway,
shows dissolved solids in the 2000 ppm range. This is double the baseline Wadge
TDS. What is the explanation for the elevated TDS observed? Does P&M have any
baseline monitoring data for this well?
Alluvia/ Wells
1. Why does 008-AW-3 show a much higher EC reading than its upstream cousin
008-AU-3? Approximately 1 /3 to 1 /2 mile separate these Fish Creek alluvial
wells.
Surface Water
1. Fish Creek from site 16 downstream, Foidel Creek from pond A downstream, Middle
Creek from M3S pond downstream, and Trout Creek from the Middle Creek confluence
