Echo Bay Mines pulled out of the project officially on January 31, 1996. Core drilling was halted io early November 1995 with the completion of hole CR 95-112. I was notified by my parent company in early September 1996 that they were forcing roe to take back ownership of the property. I personally took over the full responsibility of the downtime monthly overhead affective August 1996. 'fhe full transition of the ownership from the public parent back to roe should take plfice by January O5, 1997. 1 was the only employee at the mine during the past year. I average 160 to 200 hours per month at the site. 1 have gone un-paid since July 15, 1996! Recently 1 completed full reclamation of the 6 Echo Bay surface core sites built in 1995. [also fully reclaimed their two surface sample trenches on Caribou Hill. 1 expect to have a detailed reclamation report out on this completed work by December 10, 1996. I will send a copy to you for your review. During this past year I completed the underground construction of a gravity flow water system. With the completion of this project in early April, l began gravity discharge which incorporates the daily addition of lime at the rate of ]0 to 15 lbs. per day/ 7 days per week. 1 have previously sent two detailed reports fully drecribiug this project to your office. If you haven't seen them, or require copies, please call me. Beyond the reclamation work and the water quality work, I spend my day:; 00 maintenance, bookkeeping/accounting, environmental work, finance work and providing lectures and tours of the facilities. Most of the educational tours ar~~ for school kids and last year some 2,000 kids, teachers aad visitors toured the mime. +30,000 people thus far have participated. Several local and national educatia~nal movies have been filmed at the mine. Last year channel 4 news filmed here. The~$tate Health Department has attempted to ruin our 25 year operation and cripple me financially. They continue to refuse to accept the detailed scientific data that both my company and Walsh Environmental supply them on a weekly and monthly basis. They will not give us proper credit for accurate yearly stream flows (i.e.: mass balancelmixing equations). They refuse to accept the years of downstream sampling that shows the creek is full compliance with the most stringent clean water standards.
