RAG, Empire Corporation 1999 AHR
~~ Colorado Division of Minerals & Geology (DMG), as well as data collected to meet the
requirements of the Colorado Wastewater Discharge Permit System (CDPS permit).
Data contained in Figures 4, 5, 6, 10, and 21 reflect some different values then
reported in last years AHR. During overview of the historic data, some
inconsistencies were noted and corrected accordingly. Also, Wells TR-4 and 259 are
each missing a water level reading in 1999 due to a broken pressure gauge. These
discrepancies are reflected in figures 4 and 10 and in the Support Data tables.
GROUNDWATER MONITORING
• BEDROCK
Three sandstone aquifers are monitored at the site. They are, in ascending order:
Trout Creek Sandstone (1 well), Middle Sandstone (6 wells), and Twentymile
Sandstone (3 wells). The #5 and #6 Mines are between the Trout Creek Sandstone
and the Middle Sandstone.
WATER LEVELS
The potentiometric surface represented by water level measurements in the Trout
Creek Sandstone 5 Mine well (Fig. 3), has recovered to the levels measured in 1986
through 1988. This recovery is apparently from a reduction in pumping for use by the
mining operation. The well is used for water supply as well as monitoring. Historical
Page 2
