Logan Wash Mine
Annual Report
March 28, 2004- March 27, 2005
Permit No.: M-1977-424
1.0 Introduction
This annual report has been prepared in accordance with regulations of the State of Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) and the regulations promulgated by the Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Board. The information presented in this report pertains [o the period
March 28, 2004 to March 27, 2005 (reporting period). Projected reclamation activities for the
following year are also presented.
The Logan Wash Mine, located approximately 12 miles northeast of De Beque, Colorado, is
managed by Glenn Springs Holdings, Inc. (GSHI) for Occidental Oil Shale, Inc. (OOSI).
Western Water & Land, Inc. (WWL) provided engineering and environmental consulting
services. A general site location map for the Logan Wash Mine is presented in Figure 1.
This annual report summarizes the reclamation status of the Logan Wash Mine. The Logan Wash
Mine is currently under Temporary Cessation status, as GSHI is in the process of implementing
mine closure and reclamation at the Mine. During the reporting period, significant surface
reclamation work was conducted on the OOSI property. GSHI anticipates reclamation activities
to resume in 2005.
The remainder of this annual report is organized as follows:
• Section 2: Disturbed Acreage Status
• Section 3: Monitoring Activities
• Section 4: Reclamation Activities in 2004
• Section 5: Maintenance Activities
• Section 6: Anticipated Reclamation in the Year 2005
• Section 7: Anticipated Disturbance in the Year 2004
Please refer to Figure 1, the Logan Wash Mine location map, and Figure 2, the Logan Wash Mine
site map for features discussed in this report. This report also refers to Exhibit E, the original
reclamation plan, and Exhibit F, the reclamation map. These exhibits can be found in the mine
permit for Logan Wash Mine.
2.0 Disturbed Acreage Status
According to Exhibit E, the Reclamation Plan (1981) for Logan Wash Mine, 134.7 acres were
approved for disturbance within the permit area. However, approximately 113.6 acres have
actually been disturbed within the permit area. To date, it is estimated that approximately 104.7
acres have been reclaimed at the Logan Wash Mine Site.
Surface structures that remain on site include, two vault structures (one on the Lower Bench and
one on the Research Mine Bench), a capped ventilation shaft, the evaporation pond (Pond 1) and
detection vault, and monitoring wells LWCW-lA, LW-112, LW-22, LW-242, and a well on the
Upper Bench (no ID). No other monitoring wells have been located during several field
investigations.
