cfs). Baseline data from Site SW-S2W-SG17 (WSH17) has been provided in
Appendix E1.
- NPDES 016 (NPDESI6). This site exists on a Hubberson Gulch tributary
in the II-W South area. Pond 016 was nearly complete in September 2000,
and first discharged in April 2001. It is monitored weekly except when
inaccessible by truck. The average flow each water year was:
2004 0.037 cfs
2003 0.090 cfs
2002 0.037 cfs
2001 0.019 cfs
Mine pit pumping into this pond is responsible for many of the high
peaks present on the hydrographs. TDS values at this site are
increasing. Baseline data from Site SW-S2W-SG16 (WSH16) has been
provided in Appendix E1.
- Surface Water Site SW-S2W-SG7 (WSH7)_ This site is located on
Hubberson Gulch upstream of the co nfluence of mine discharges contained
in the 006 Gulch, but is downstream of Ponds 016 and 017. Monitoring
here began in April 1987. Its TDS plot indicates an increasing trend.
Baseline statistics for this site have been provided. The Seneca II-W
PHC, Tab].e 17-42a, predicts an irrigation season (June-September)
average TDS value of 1787 mg/1 for this site, while a value of 1260 mg/1
was observed this year.
- NPDES 006 (NPDES6). This site is located on a tributary to Hubberson
Gulch referred to as the 006 Gulch. Construction of the 006 Pond was
completed October 1989. This pond collects all mine discharges from the
central mining area. The first hydrograph supplied shows data for this
year; the second shows all data collected since the site began
discharging. Review of the flow hydrographs indicates typical seasonal
variation due to snowmelt runoff in the spring, with additional peaks
due to pit pumpage, pond clean-out, and rainfall events. The water year
average flow values since this pond began to discharge are:
2004 0.509 cfs (monthly measurements)
2003 0.198 cfs (monthly measurements)
15
