<br /> <br />-z- <br />Technique 4 <br />This technique is used on areas less steep than a 3:1 slope. A tractor is <br />used to break the soil by disk or chisel plow. Fertilizer (18-46-0) is <br />broadcast at the rate of 400 lbs/acre and the areas are drill seeded. Hay <br />mulch, applied at the rate of 4000 lbs/acre, is then crimped. Whenever <br />possible, this work is done with the contour. <br />Technique 5 <br />This technique is probably our least preferred and only used when it is not <br />safe or practical to use one of the other techniques. Seed and fertilizer <br />are separately applied by a hydroseeder. The area is then covered with a <br />wood fiber mulch at the rate of 2000 lbs/acre within four days following the <br />seed and fertilizer applications. <br />• <br />
