Long
Diviswn DueUOr
The Division of Minerals and Geology has completed review of the 1997 Annual Hydrology Report for
the Lorencito Canyon mine. Due to the delay in beginning operations at the site, the data recorded
continues to reflect baseline hydrologic conditions.
One curious observation noted is the continued rise in water level in well MW4-U. The 1996 average
water level was 213 feet, the 1997 average water level was 180.7 feet, and the November 1997 water level
was 158.6 feet. What accounts for the continued rise in water level in this underburden well?
The Division has no further questions at this time. Thank you for conducting monitoring in accordance
with your approved plan.
Sincerely,
`~
tivf ~'.i•Ccw~~
Kent Gorham
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc: Dan Hernandez, DMG
