BOX 70
Loma, Colorado 81524
RE: 1997 Annual Hydrologic Report
Munger Canyon Mine (C-81-020)
McClane Canyon Mine (C-80-004)
Dear Mr. Walters:
Roy Romer
Governor
lames S. Lochhead
Fxecutive Dlrecl0r
Michael g. Long
Division DIfeC10r
This letter is to advise you that the Division has completed review of the ] 996/1997 water year
annual hydrologic report for the McClane Canyon and Munger Canyon Mines, and we find that
the data presented in the report indicate that impacts aze generally in conformance with PHC
projections presented in the permit documents.
One suggestion we have for future AHRs, is that it would be helpful to have baseline water
quality data presented in the AHR tables for both surface water and groundwater information.
This could be done by simply adding another column of data, and would provide an easy way to
identify overall water quality trends.
Also, as you know, there are a couple remaining hydrology related matters (reclaimed channel
designs) still pending from McClane Technical Revision No. 9, for which we are awaiting
responses. I would like to get the issues resolved and issue a decision on the revision as soon as
possible, and prior to the midterm review date (January 4, 1999). I would therefore request that
you submit responses and revised designs by mid-November.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerel ,
Dan T.
