IMPACTS AND FUTURE MONITORING
Increased salt loading from the Mine No. 1 discharges have been observed
since 1982. They appear to have leveled off in 1986. While the salt
loading has increased it has not caused any material damage. High dissolved
manganese levels have occurred at Pond F. A change in stream designation
xas obtained in 1988. Dissolved manganese is no longer a stream standard.
Localized increases in dissolved solids in the Foidel Creek alluvium have
been observed; however, these increases are confined to areas immediately
~' adjacent to the mine and no material damage has or is expected to occur. As
predicted, two Wadge Overburden wells have increased dissolved solids
levels. The increase is within predicted levels and since there are no
wells completed in this aquifer (except by the mines) no material damage has
1 or will occur. No impacts from Mine No. 2 have been observed. Due to
redundancy of data the frequency of monitoring of Station 114 can be
decreased.

' - 12 -
